Meat + Potatoes Neighborhood butcher shops are on the decline. Between 1917–1938 the Cincinnati area was home to more than 340 independent retail meat markets. The rise of big-box grocery retailing, changing neighborhoods, and the challenges of small business ownership have greatly reduced their number.
