The Free Fallin’
Makes 1 cocktail
Catherine Manabat shares this recipe for a seasonal cocktail using local spirits and flavorings.
1½ oz. Watershed Bourbon
1½ oz. pear shrub (see below)
2 oz. soda water
Add bourbon and pear shrub to a tumbler, top with soda water. Add ice. Garnish with an orange peel.
Pear Shrub
2 cups juiced pear (add chopped pears to a blender, strain well)
½ cup sugar
1 Tbsp. whole allspice berries
1 1-in. piece Carriage House ginger, chopped
4 fresh sage leaves
½ cup apple cider vinegar
In medium sized pot over medium-high heat add pear juice and sugar. Stir in ginger and allspice. Bring to a boil, remove from heat and add sage. Steep for 20 minutes. Once mixture has cooled, add apple cider vinegar. Strain and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
